MILK AND WODKA COLLABORATIONS
INTERNATIONAL (since 1999)
The Milk+Wodka Institution, since 1999 consisting of Roman Maeder
and Remo Keller, covers until this very day two important ranges:
1. The Artist-Group Milk+Wodka (Keller + Maeder)
The Art-Exibitions/Installations are carefully prepared and released
by the Artists Roman Maeder(*1974)and Remo Keller (*1968), both
born in Schaffhausen, Switzerland.
The work is shown all over Switzerland, in Germany, Austria and Italy,
and increasingly also in countries even further abroad.
The MILK+WODKA Exhibitions take not only place in galeries, off-galeries
and museums, but also in various uncommon venues, such as illegal Bars,
Artist-Markets (f.e. Bazar Bizzar), discarded horse stables,and cocktail-
robotic-festivals. Thanks to varied and constantly growing connections to the
international art-/music-/and party-scene, the audience is usually of a
nicely multicolored mixture.
Contentwise everything turns around the large topics of adventure,
amour fou, un- and luck, herbs and carrots and of course: milk and wodka.
The objects, paintings and designs by Roman Maeder and Remo Keller are
colourful, shiny and explosive, and they involve works of diverse styles,
approaches and techniques. A conglomerate of crafty silkscreen-prints,
pseudo-amateurish scribblings, avantgarde comic-art, to carefully and
iconographically painted giant backlit canvases.
Inbetween, you might discover several original M+W logos, emblems and
fake-advertising boards: everything is explosive and shiny, often
reminiscent of trashy pop-art and art brut. The Exhibiton concept is
based on the idea to create a friendly but slightly irritating art-space, trying to
find a comfortable mix between Galerie-Atmosphere and the one of a comfy
Living Room
You may find yourself in a lounge-corner, at the well-sorted bookshelf,
at a bar where they serve "only" milk and wodka, or even in a puppethouse,
or a record-player, and you will discover a thousend small and large surprises.
Also we have a mobile comic-kiosk, which presents various mini-comics,
silkscreen-postcards, stickers and accessoires, everything affectionately
crafted and hygienically packed.
Important exhibitions so far at Galerie Andy Jllien (Zürich), Museum für Gegenwarts-
kunst (Basel), Galerie Neurotitan (Berlin), Forte Prenestino (Rom), Kunst-
raum Hinterconti (Hamburg), Break 21 (Ljubljana), MuseumsQuartier Wien, and
many, many other places more.
In October 2008,MILK+WODKA is participating a festival in Istanbul, and
in 2009, we are planning an extended tour with Exhibitions and Murales-works
in North- and Latin-America.

2. THE MILK+WODKA SMALL PUBLISHING HOUSE...
...publishes the first issue of "Milk and Wodka Continental Comicbook No.1"
in 1999.
The fanzine-like booklet with b/w copies, four colour sides and silkscreen-
envelope appears in A5 in an edition of 500 pieces and contents 60 pages by
17 young artists from seven different nations. (CH, D, I, SER, CRO, B, CAN).
M+W No. 1 contains independent and underground comics and illustrations
and gives it a guidance ("club from the bag") and an interview with a world-
famous finish rock'n'roll band. The book is curated and published by
R. Maeder + R. Keller.
Now, in april 2008, the ninth issue of our transnational
comic- illustration- and poetry- publication appears.
Meanwhile, the Milk+Wodka anthology has grown to a 178 pgs strong book,
collecting works by internationally known artists, such as Jim Avignon (D/USA),
Fiona Smith (CAN), Caroline Sury (F/LE DERNIER CRI), Françoise Cactus
(D+F/STEREO TOTAL),Benjamin Güdel (CH), or the notorious RENATE-Collective
from Berlin.
Parallely to the MILK+WODKA COMICBOOK project, Remo and Roman are producing
numerous illustrations, postcard, buttons, weird gadgets, tinkering elbows,
refrigerator-magnets, mini-comics, flyers and of course, their small- and big-sized
paintings on canvas and cardboard.

Milk and Wodka Comic-Collaborations
International (seit 1999)
Die Milk and Wodka Institution, 1999 ins Leben gerufen von Roman
Maeder und Remo Keller umfasst bisher zwei Grossbereiche:
1. Die Kuenstlergruppe Milk+Wodka (Keller + Maeder)
Die Kunstaustellungen/Installationen werden von Roman Maeder(*1974)
+ Remo Keller (*1968), beide geboren in Schaffhausen, Schweiz,
jeweils sorgfaeltig vorbereitet und organisiert. Sie finden in
diversen Staedten in der Schweiz,Deutschland, und vermehrt auch im
weiteren Ausland statt.
Ausgestellt wird in den verschiedensten Oertlichkeiten, so z.B.
in illegalen Bars, Kuenstlermaerkten (Bazar Bizzar), ausrangierten
Pferdestaellen, aber auch in Galerien, Museen und Festivals.
Dank vielfaeltiger Kontakte zur internationalen Kuenstler- / Musiker- /
und Partyszene ist das Publikum meist angenehm durchmischt.
Inhaltlich dreht sich alles um die grossen Themen Abenteuer,
Amour Fou, Un- und Glueck, Kraut und Rueben oder eben Milch und
Wodka.
Farbig und Exklusiv-Explosiv sind die Bilder, Zeichnungen +
Basteleien von Maeder und Keller.
Die Milk+Wodka Exibitionen werden durch die verschiedensten Stile,
Arbeitstechniken + Ausdrucksformen ausgezeichnet. Das Spektrum
reicht hier von naiv-dilletantischen Kritzeleien ueber siebgedruckte
Bastelboegen und Poster bis zu sorgfaeltig bemalten, ikonenhaften
Riesenleuchtbildern.
Dazwischen tauchen auch immer wieder die unterschiedlichsten Milk+Wodka
Unikats-Embleme und Werbetafeln auf: alles ist knallig und bunt,
erinnert oft an Pop-Art und Art Brut.
Die Austellungen sind immer so konzipiert, dass man sich als
Besucher grundsaetzlich wohlfuehlen soll. Es gibt z.B. bequeme
Lounge-Ecken, feine Drinks an der Bar, angenehme Musik, eine serioese
und freundliche Betreuung un tausend kleine und grosse Ueberraschungen
zu entdecken.
So auch im mobilen Komik-Kiosk, der ein vielfaeltiges Angebot
von selbstverlegten Minikomiks, Siebdruck-Postkarten,Aufklebern und
Accessoires praesentiert; alles liebevoll selbst gebastelt und hygienisch
verpackt.
Ausstellungen in der Galerie Andy Jllien (Zürich), Museum für Gegenwarts-
kunst (Basel), Galerie Neurotitan (Berlin), Forte Prenestino (Rom), Kunst-
raum Hinterconti (Hamburg), Break 21 (Ljubljana), MuseumsQuartier Wien, und
an vielen, vielen anderen Orten mehr.
Im Oktober 2008 nimmt MILK+WODKA an einem Festival in Istanbul teil, und
für 2009 planen wir eine ausgedehnte Tour mit Ausstellungen und Wandmalereien
in Nord-, Mittel- und Südamerika.

2. Der Milk and Wodka Kleinverlag...
...publiziert im Dezember 1999 die erste Internationale Comic-Anthologie
"Milk and Wodka Continental Comicbook No.1".
Das Heft mit s/w Kopien, vier Farbseiten und Siebdruck-Umschlag
erschien im Format A5 in einer Auflage von 500 Stueck.
Auf 60 Seiten praesentierten sich hier 17 junge Kuenstler aus
sieben Nationen. (CH, D, I, SER, CRO, B, CAN).
M+W Nr.1 enthaelt Independent + Untergrund-Comics der verschiedensten
Stile und Inhalte.
Ferner gibt es eine Spielanleitung ("Knueppel aus dem Sack") und
ein Interview mit einer finnischen Rock and Roll Band.
Organisiert, zusammengestellt und herausgegeben wird das "Continental
Comic Book" von Roman Maeder und Remo Keller.
Im April 2008 erscheint nun die mittlerweile neunte Ausgabe
unserer grenzueberschreitenden Zusammenarbeits-Publikation.
Inzwischen ist die Milk+Wodka-Anthologie auf stolze 178 Seiten von 54
Künstlern aus aller Welt angewachsen und enthält Beiträge von International
bekannten Künstlern wie z.B. Jim Avignon (D/USA), Fiona Smith (CAN),
Caroline Sury (F/LE DERNIER CRI), Françoise Cactus (D+F/STEREO TOTAL),
Benjamin Güdel (CH), oder dem berüchtigten RENATE-Kollektiv aus Berlin.
Parallel zum MILK+WODKA COMICBOOK produzieren Roman und Remo zahlreiche
Illustrationen, Postkarten, Buttons, Comicfiguren, Bastelbögen, Kühlschrank-
magnete, Mini-Comics, Flyers und natürlich ihre Gross-Formatigen Zeichnungen,
Malereien und Objekte.
Erhaeltlich sind die Milk and Wodka Produkte an den Milk+Wodka-Kunst-Happenings,
sowie in ausgesuchten Comic- und Buecherlaeden, oder natuerlich
